When we lived in London, England; my daughter loved the red cabbage coleslaw that we tried at the ‘Deliciously Ella’ Deli. Now that we have moved back to US, we miss going to the Deli, so I attempted to make our own.
Although my recipe doesn’t taste exactly the same as the original, it is so easy to make and has such a refreshing taste. And the best part is no mayonnaise required 😉 .
Ingredients:
3-4 cups shredded red cabbage
2 cups shredded carrots
1 big shredded green apple (I used golden delicious)
1 tbsp tamari (or soy sauce or coconut aminos)
salt and black pepper
1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp toasted sesame oil
1-2 chopped scallions/green onions to garnish
blend of sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried minced onion, and dried minced garlic
Method:
Mix together the cabbage, carrots, and apple in a big bowl. In another small bowl whisk the apple cider vinegar, tamari, and sesame oil. Pour this dressing on to the cabbage mix; season with salt and pepper.
Sprinkle with the seeds mixture (I used ‘Trader Joes: everything but the bagel sesame seasoning blend‘) and chopped scallions/green onions. And there you have it; a delicious red cabbage coleslaw, ready to enjoy.
