Turmeric milk has been used for centuries in Eastern countries as a healing drink to heal wounds, treat a sore throat or a cold, heal skin conditions, alleviate digestive problems, and more. Thanks to today’s scientific advancements, it is well known that turmeric is antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and high in antioxidants.
Growing up in India, I never actually had turmeric milk and when I heard about it on TV or in movies, I always thought that it would taste horrible. Now that turmeric has been labelled as superfood, it piqued my curiosity so I decided to give it a go, and to my surprise it tastes AHH-MAZINGG. Now that winter is around the corner, I’m already looking forward to cozying up by the fireplace with this latte in the evening.
Ingredients:
1 mug homemade almond milk ( or any other milk of choice)
1/4 or 1/2 tsp organic turmeric powder (depending on preference)
1/2 tsp cinnamon powder
1/4 tsp ginger powder
1 or 2 medjool dates
pinch of black pepper
small pinch of sea salt
Method:
In a high speed blender, mix all the ingredients until the dates have completely dissolved. Transfer the mixture to a pot and heat it until it simmers. Do not boil the mixture, as this overheats the turmeric and may reduce its benefits. Switch off the flame and use a milk frother or a whisk to get it frothy. Pour in your favorite mug and ENJOY!
*** Make sure to wash your blender immediately after use to prevent staining from the turmeric.***
